I had my surgery on October 20, 2010. Healing well, eating better. However, because I won't get my first fill until November 30, I feel like I am a month behind in losing the weight. What should I expect for weight loss after my first fill? I know that everybody is different, but will I see any loss in the month after?

Congrats. Now remember the fills don't make you lose the weight, your choices will. What you eat and how much. I lost on my preop diet, eating what I thought was a lot of food. And right after surgery I lost and only had very little in the band. My first fill was at about a month and I continued to loose. Was banned in March as a size 22, for mothers day my daughter bought me size 14 jeans and they FIT! So yes the weight will come off if you follow the rules. Good luck.

You can loose weight before restriction if you eat right (low carb, low fat) and excersise. Be aware that restriction may not happen at the first fill, for many it takes several fills. Took me 3. Know it will happen, may take a little patience. Good luck on your journey.

I was banded on July 30th and my first fill wasnt for 6 weeks and I lost almost 20lbs!! 15 of that was in the first 2 weeks. that first month in betweeen surgery and my first fill is whenI lost the most. I stuck to the rules and than when I started "regular" food I ate small portions and healthy choices..looking back it was much easier than..I am 3.5 months out and in bandster hell...havnt got to my sweet spot yet with good restriction..dont worry about your first fill being out a month..use that time to try and learn your new eating habits and to heal...you might be surprised at how much you lose:)

Yeah... They told me that in the first weeks before the fill I shouldn't expect to loose any weight at all... My first fill just happened and I do not feel any different. I have a 10cc capacity band and he put 2cc at this first fill. I am already looking forward to my next one.

You'll do fine. Remember this is a tool and you have to still limit your quantities, and not always rely on your fill. Even after 4 years, I still use baby spoons, chopsticks and small plates and bowls for all my meals. It really helps to eat slower and thing about every bite!! Sometimes if i think i am hungry, but know I couldnt be, I go brush my teeth! It makes me not want to eat afterall.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
