I was a dedicated pepsi drinker and NEVER drank Water before my surgery, now I try to drink at least 64oz of water daily, however my skin is so dry now and I am always thirsty....Any thoughts on this:confused:

My friend told me that after surgery your skin would be very dry...I noticed that although my skin was dry before, after surgery my skin was extremely dry. Afte I was able to get in the bathtub, I would soak for a while and then I mixed a solution of lotion and sugar and rubbed it on my skin...I was amazed at how much dead skin came off of me. I still use this about once per week. I then use African Shea Butter on my skin. I have noticed such a difference in my skin.

Water is not the only thing that can effect your skin, yur change in diet also effects it! The lower fat content has an effect on it too! plus the change in weather. Try using a really good lotion after you shower, asap, the sooner the better asit also traps in your natural moisture. Taking really hot showers or baths can also dry you out.

Any time that I've had anesthesia and even when I had both of my babies, my skin gets very dry and my hair falls out for a couple of months. I was banded on Oct 19th, and I am steadily losing hair. Luckily, I have very thick hair, so at the most, it thins out to what most people have. My hair dresser is always amazed. I just have to really condition my hair and be sure to use lotion after showering. After about 8 weeks, it usually subsides.

My skin always gets super lizard-like dry in the winter anyway, and now it's disgusting. I've been using super-hardcore Eucerin dry skin therapy on my body. It is gross on my hands but it works like a charm on the lizard legs.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
