Hello, I was banded on Nov. 3rd. No problems util day 5 and I hadn't had a bowel movement since before surgery. Don't let this happen to you!! It was very painful. Otherwise just excited and ready to eat some mushy foods on Thurs. I'm sick of Protein shakes....I didn't think I would ever say I HATE CHOCOLATE!!

Hi Bamamom,

I am going to be banded this Tuesday (Nov 16) and want to thank you for posting the warning! I will be careful. Hope you are feeling better and congratulations on your band! I'm looking forward to joining "the banded" soon.

If you are looking for a band-buddy, feel free to PM me and we can chat. I'm 48, female and have a similar amount of weight to lose. Maybe we can encourage each other! All the best to you.

Mamaj (Cindy)

Alisa, I'm feeling great.. I was constipated at first, but now I'm fine. I went for my 2wk post op checkup today. Cleared to exercise and eat pureed foods. I had some cooked carrots, sugarfree yougart, and refried black Beans and they were so good. Still drinking my Protein Drinks. I really didn't have any gas pains at all. I had only 2 incisions, don't know if that makes a difference or not. But so far so good for me... hopefully you'll feel better soon. What does your dr. say?

Amy

Hi Amy,

Doing ok, considering it has only been two days. The surgery itself and immediate post-op went really smoothly, so I couldn't have been happier about that. Recovery since is fine, but the weird sensations, lack of appetite, gas movement, etc. are all strange. Hope it will pass soon and I'll be feeling like new again. Doing lots of walking, but still need to take the pain meds (though minimal dose and only every six hours or so). Wishing all of us here a speedy recovery! Thanks for checking in on me :-) You doing ok?

Cindy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
