Does anyone ever NOT get a fill?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if I responded to this yet, but I was banded 12/20/08 and am to goal with losing 90 pds with NO FILLS. I was banded by Dr. ATkinson out of Las Vegas and yes there are quite a few of us from there that made it to goal with no fills. I cannot explain it except that with every Dr appt. I had lost weight and they allowed me to decide if I wanted a fill or not and I chose not to, and before I knew it I was to goal. I have been maintaining for the last year and if I ever feel I need to change things and get a fill, I will, but for now I am comfortable the way I am and do no wish to ruin this wonderful experience and this new great body. Good luck and hope you decide what is best for you too!

I was banded by Dr. Atkinson too!!! They told me that they put some Fluid into to the band at the time of surgery. (Not much .5 cc) but that may be part of the reason why so many of us have lost weight without a fill. I have been very pleased with the way I've been treated there.

No fill here since surgery on Aug. 23rd. Still no hunger pains / sensations. If I forget to eat, sometimes I will hear my stomach growl which at first was alittle wierd for me, now I am used to it on those occasions and use it as a reminder to eat.:)

Interesting! I'm not hungry now.. I don't have a fill yet. But I would think it would lead to cheating if I never got a fill. I have a good handle on what I'm eating and how much, and eating slowly and all that. I don't know how long that will last!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
