I'm a bandster!

Recommended Posts

I got home Tuesday night. Yesterday was pretty tough. I'm not as sore today, thank goodness. When did ya'll start feeling normal? And can we really live 2 weeks on liquids and not pass out eventually? Would ya'll tell me what fluids you drank the first 2 weeks?A word of advice for future bandsters- if you live an hour or more away from your hospital- don't try to go home the same day. I did, it took us over 2 hrs. and it was the worst part. Dr. B told us to stop so I could walk midway home. It was definitely a "what in the world did I do?" moment.I know it's going to get alot better!

Congrats on being banded! I knew Dr. B would take great care of you. Follow what Dianne told you to do with the liquids. I followed the directions to the T and I lost a good 17 pounds in those two weeks. It is tough and it is hard but you will make it. Drink your Protein every hour and sip on Water and drink the chicken broth. I also had won ton Soup from chinese restaurant and took the won ton's out. That was really good. Keep it up you are doing great!!! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact or PM me.

YEAH Magic....welcome to bandland!!!!

Wow liquids seem like they were so long ago...ditto what the others said. Make sure you drinking enough protien that is what helps keep the hunger away. Even now 6 months out if I don't get enough protien I am VERY hungry. We are here for you....Ask as many questions as you need to. My favorite protien drink was the choc powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. You can only get it on line but it's just like drinking a frosty from wendys. YUMMY...I still have me one of them every so often.

Good Luck...please let us know if you need anything. We may be an hour away but we are here on line for you for anything.

Congrats Magic - This is wonderful. I'm going to have surgery with Dr Bauman too, just waiting for the final paperwork reports for my chart and then I should/will have a date, I do know I"m preapproved so alot of the anxiety is gone.

Merry Christmas.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
