Are there different sweet spots in a 10cc band?

Recommended Posts

Hey all. . . got my first fill in 2 years a couple days ago. . happy to say I'm back on the wagon! I am now at 6.5cc in my 10cc band and it seems I have an amazing amount of restriction. It only takes 3oz of meat to make me completely full til I can't bare it. .. although I hear some people have 8+ cc in their 10cc band and was wondering, is that just a difference in anatomy or will I eventually need to get more in mind to have this type of restriction?

All in all I'm happy to have went back and happy to finally have this restriction!

Peoples restriction is different not only because of their stomachs but also bands and fills.

I have the 10cc lapband and my fill is about 6cc right now. Most of the day this is too much of a fill and I need to get an unfill because I am living mostly off liquids.

I used to have a 11cc SAG band and even at 10cc fill I didn't have perfect restriction and could eat anything!

So your sweet spot now might change later because your stomach is changing but you shouldn't compare your fill to others because there are so many reasons to why we're all different.

Thanks for the reply Alien. I guess I wasn't really comparing it like it was a numbers war, just more of a curiosity thing to see if I will indeed eventually need more, but as you said. . no real way to tell, we're all different.

Just guess I'm glad to have the restriction I do. . cause I know with 5 I was basically free to eat whatever, and it's why I failed for so long.

Thanks again for the reply, and good luck to you!

Yes everyone gets restriction at a different point. If there was some magic number of cc's that gave you restriction they would just do that for everyone!

Here's the really weird thing...you may eventually need less! After about 2 years of banding, my stomach changed somehow and I started getting tighter and tighter. I've had 3 small unfills and I have about 5cc in my band. Now I can eat almost anything, I rarely get stuck and I'm full on about 3/4 c of food. It's a great place!

The best advice I can give is pay attention to your body. Don't be afraid to get a fill if you need one, but don't be afraid of unfills either.

Cindy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
