Acid Reflux, Pain, Vomiting

Recommended Posts

I was banded in July 2009. I've got 6cc in a 10.5 band. About a month ago I had a 1cc fill and the first 2 weeks were great. But, two weeks ago, after eating a spinach salad at a friends house, I've had terrible acid reflux, heartburn, pressure like a brick sitting on my chest for the past two weeks. I was on mainly liquids and smashed/mashed. However, three days ago I felt wonderful - so I tried to eat a 1" x 1" piece of baked chicken. I had about 1/8 cup of very soft green Beans and almost instantly I had PAIND and acid reflux. I have put myself back on liquids and can only sip on these liquids because sometimes they come up.

My surgeon doesnt have office hours on Fridays, so I'm waiting til Monday in the hopes that something gives.

I'd love to hear from anyone else with the same symptoms and what it might be... band slippage, restriction, food stuck, hernia, ???

I have a similar issue- banded Nov 2009, 1st fill last month, 2 cc's then i started noticing i was feeling sick often and the past week i really cant get anything in. I had 2 munchkins< YES I know, freaking munchkins!! but 2 munchkins and I was in incredible pain and vomiting, pain in my stomach and up into my left shoulder, stayed for hours, even after vomiting the 2 stupid munchkins. It has happened repeatedly, just about everything I eat- a 2 oz Protein bar, I can only get half of before i feel sick:-( This sucks!! I have an appointment on Tuesday, so upset and afraid that its going to be band slipped or something.

Staying on liquids for the next few days until my appointment, let me know how your appointment goes_ thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
