Is there any insurance that covers

Recommended Posts

Hi....

Is there any insurance anymore that covers this surgery. I want to find out which so I can seek a job that has that insurance.

Yes.....I am that desperate for it. I have sleep apnea. I cannot afford it on my own as I have a child with a disability so there goes any extra cash which I am not complaining about. It just is what it is.

Someone out there...please help.

Thanks

Just wondering how you would mange to get a job based on what insurance it offers. In the current climate I would have thought it was hard enough to find any new job !

Lots in insurance companies cover it BUT the problem is the company that you work for has an elective packet. they can choose. So it isn't based on insurance, it is if the company has elected it as a benefit. Good Luck.

Most insurances will cover if you have a BMI of 40 or a BMI of 35 with co morbidities.

However, they all have different requirements of what they need to approve you for surgery.

Many of them require a history of obesity or a six month medically approved diet.

I believe the best insurance company for getting the band is Oxford. As long as you have a BMI high enough to be eligible that is all you really need.

Thanks for the replies. Elcee...I am blessed enough to work in a profession that has jobs available out there. And 23&LQQkin... that is what happened at my husband's emplyeer. They chose to exclude it actually. It stinks pretty much. And Mariasha...I will have to look into Oxford. Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks for your input:rolleyes2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
