Hello all-

I was banded in July 2009 and am having a Tummy Tuck in January 2011. This surgery is already scheduled.

Has anyone had weight loss and had this surgery done? If so, what can i expect? The good, the bad, the ugly - please. My ultimate goal is to return to work after 3 weeks - is that do-able??

I have lost over 100 pounds and will have this done at the same time i have a hernia repair. I am told i will be cut from hip to hip to remove the excess skin - which i call a roll and then the remaning skin will be stretched down to form my new stomach -

any information anyone is willing to share is more than i have now, so please give me any you have.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi:

I was laid off when I had my Tummy Tuck after losing more than 100 pounds. So, I didn't have to head back to work. I think that the pain will be over, but you may still be fatigued after 3 weeks. I think my energy level didn't return until 3 months after tummy tuck.

I had an internal pain pump gadget that I highly recommend. It was the size of a baby bottle on the outside, and it had very thin drains that went below my skin over the muscle repair. When I felt pain there I just pushed the button and it instantly sent numbing medicine over that area. Was great to do when getting up or sitting down for the first few days. It only lasted 3 days. I highly recommend that, but unfortunately I don't remember what it was called.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

I am scheduled for a tummy tuck- and breast augmentation Dec. 1st. I saw my sister go through it. She had tummy, breast and Lipo. She was very out of it for the first 2-3 days. She went back to work, taking care of her kids and climbing 3 flights of stairs to her condo after 3 weeks. I am so nervous but also so excited about the surgery. You probably feel the same way. Keep us posted on how your doing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
