Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!!!! I just wanted to share my awesome recipe for a Protein Shake. It is best used for the liquid stage or pureed stage!!

1 cup 1% milk

1 scoop chocolate Protein powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 tablespoons peanut butter

6 ice cubes

Blend and drink with a straw!!! It tastes just like a reeces Peanut Butter cup!!!!

Enjoy everyone!!!

OMG - sounds so yummy. I'm going to try one when I get home from work today. I love, love, LOVE anything with Peanut Butter & chocolate.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> Thanks Theresa for the recipe!

sounds very yummy but I was told I shouldn't use a straw after being banded. The nutrionist said it allows too much air to get into your smaller tummy.

Anyone have trouble with that?

Interesting about the straw...my doctor gave me one in the hospital and said "get used to it, your meals will have to go through a straw for the next few weeks!!" I haven't had any issues with it.

My doctor didnt allow straws only for the first 6 weeks after surgery. I now use them everyday without problems. This shake sounds fantastic!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
