11-8-10 Banded YEHEY!

Recommended Posts

I was also banded on 11-8. I had the same trouble with the burping thing. Better today. I am drinking carnation instant Breakfast today and ate SF Jello for dinner. I can't wait to be able to eat normal food! I have less pain today. I haven't taken any pain medicine yet today. Yay! Each day gets better. I can't wait to eat normal textured food, but yet I'm afraid to. I don't want to puke or do the PB or sliming that everyone talks about. OR have anything get stuck! What are you all going to do for Thanksgiving? Try to eat a little turkey, potatoes or just do the fluids?

Good to hear you doin great. I only took the pain med once when i got home from the hospital. I only take my nausea and levonex med. Do you ever feel hungry after 2hrs of Protein shake?

Was banded on the 8th as well! Wow we have alot of bandings that day!

Today is better than yesterday by leaps and bounds. Had number 2 problems yesterday but that seems better. The gas is still getting to me but that seems to be getting better too.

For dinner tonight I had cream of celery Soup but chewed up the tiny chunks of celery until they were nothing and it went down ok. Still worries me that its too solid so I wont eat that again. For desert I had sugar free caramel pudding. Not sure if I'm supposed to be eating that though. :)

Hey guys I'm a 30 yr old mom of two kids--6yr old daughter and 1 yr old son. I was banded on 11.8.10. I've been home from the hospital 2 days now and I am sloooowwwwly getting back to normal, I thought it would be quicker but I need to be patient. I still have gas pains in my shoulders and trying hard to get down the recommended 60-80 grams of Protein a day plus 48-64 oz of Water??? I take a few sips of the Protein shake and I'm full. Gotta focus on getting in more fluids but is anyone noticing that they can't burp? I keep feeling like I have to burp but the air just circulates back down through my diaphragm and hurts a little....any ideas???:(

me too the t3s the dr gave really help and the prevacid makes a big diffrence

I was just banded. My doctor only has us do Clear liquids the day of the surgery and then full liquids for 3-4 days. Then we can try adding small amounts of soft foods.:(

Wow! That's great! I am 4 days post-op and have only been doing Clear Liquids and carnation instant Breakfast. I guess you could say that I am scared s***less to eat and then throw it up.

My diet is full-liquid until next Monday and then it's soft diet. I am going to try cream of wheat tomorrow. I would LOVE to eat some cold Cereal though. It says in a couple of weeks I can add that to my diet.

What are you all going to do for Thanksgiving? I am thinking of trying some turkey, mashed potatoes and some salad? Eat the turkey first and then the potatoes. The veggie we have is always corn and that is a no no. So, no more favorite baked corn for me. =( I'll try a deviled egg too. Yum! I just don't want to puke at someone else's house! Especially around people that don't know I had this type of surgery.

I wad banded on 10/25/10. Got out of the hospital and I was feeling horrible. The pain killers didn't agree with me. A week latter I was back in the hospital. I wasnt drinking enough Proteins or Water. I lost 20lbs in 8 days. Things are not as smooths as I though they would be. I go back to work Monday and I'm scare. I work with medical fragile childrens and I don't think I can be caring them yet. So can any body tell me how is it that so many of you are find and ready to go back to work with in a week. What am I doing wrong?I don't regret the labband, not yet any way, But I want to go back to the regular me. Less fat of course.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
