3 months since surgery and still NO period

Recommended Posts

I'm not preggo,,, where is my period?!?!?! It's getting expensive taking all these pregnancy tests to put my mind at ease. I know alot of you said you didn't get your monthly visitor for 1-2 months after surgery but it's been 3 months and I want it to come back so I can quit worrying about it!!!!:(

Laura-

I went three months, so please don't worry!! My period was due a few days after my surgery and never came. My surgery was 9/16, and I got my period 11/22, so considering I was due when I had surgery, it was a three month wait.

The bad news is that when I finally got it, it was a DOOZY. The good news is that it is almost exactly one month later, and I am regular again.

It's not only surgery but weight loss itself that can stop your periods. If you're sure you're not pregnant, enjoy the break! Unless you feel horribly premenstrual the whole time, lol. 3 months of zits and sore boobs wouldnt be much fun.

I think weightloss wreaks havoc on your hormones. I got banded at the end of Oct, and I kid you not, I have had 4 or 5 complete periods since then (Believe me, I'm not gloating). I just think the changes, "trauma" and dietary differences our bodies are going through makes your whole cycle freak out! If the test says your not, then you're not -- try to relax. Maybe if you don't get it by the beginning of the new year, your Doc could put you on a quick cycle of progesterone to bump you up.....It will come (then you'll wish it didn't)

Our bodies are something else! I didn't have a period, before banding, without progesterone pills. After banding, I get a monthly period, without the progesterone! Hmmm. Shawn

I have a irregular period since I got banded on 9/8/05. I am on birthcontrol and it should be regular but since surgery it is not.

Im not banded yet, getting banded Jan 30. As of right now, I have had my period, on and off since OCTOBER 20. So if after surgery I don't have it for a few months, thats good enough for me!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
