You know what else I've lost???

Recommended Posts

My hypoglycemia symptoms. Dieting used to be so hard for me. When I would cut calories I had a lot of issues with my blood sugar dropping. I would be shaky, tired, weak, sweaty.

Since my first fill though I really haven't had problems anymore. I'm assuming that's b/c my food is digesting slower?

It sure is nice to be without it!

I hear ya on that.

Since being banded I've lost most of my anxiety symptoms. Weird that eating less could affect anxiety, but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth!

I don't think it has anything to do with how slow or fast your food is being digested, it's the amount of carbs your body isn't having to process. Carbs are a powerful thing. They control a major amount of our blood sugar levels. Since cutting out carbs for the past 6 weeks I haven't had a single carb craving or blood sugar crash. I love it! I think people would eat a whole lot less if they only dabbled in the carb world. I love them to no end and I find that it's very weird that I don't even want them now. To me it shows that they have an almost drug like effect.

I was on medication for type 2 diebetes. After loosing some weight and eating low carb. I was able to get off the med. Same goes for my blood pressure and high choloesteral meds. It was very exciting, a great doctor visit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
