Waiting for Insurance Approval

Recommended Posts

Well, I sent the rest of my Medical Records to the surgeon's office last Friday and everything was submitted to my insurance company.

Now, I have to wait. AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!

I am NOT good in the waiting department. The insurance specialist at the office said it could take a week to 14 days...WHAT?!

I guess I better start learning about patience, especially since I'll need it once I start losing weight!!!!!:):tt2::thumbup::thumbup:

It took me about a month to get all the pre-op testing worked into my schedule - but I work full time. There was one person who posted she had all her pre-op testing scheduled over 2 days - so I guess it just depends.

Oh my goodness - I got a phone call from the insurance company (Humana) about 2 hours ago telling me that I had been approved and that my surgeons office should be contacting me shortly to schedule my last few test and to schedule surgery....I am so excited!!!! I have been waiting on this day for what seems to be forever and it has finally arrived....from what I understand I have chest xray, barium swallow, ekg and lab work left to do.....I am so excited......

It has only taken Humana 3 business days to approve my surgery....wow!!!

Hope that all goes as fast for you all......you all are in my prayers!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
