Taking it one step at a time...

Hey yall,

My name is Tori. I am a wife and a mother of 3 wonderful and very active kids. I now weigh more than I ever have in my entire life, and nothing has worked to lose the weight. So, I said a prayer, and made an appointment with a doctor in Houston, to discuss having the lap band surgery done. I like everything I have read about it so far, and they said that my insurance does have the benifit for the surgery ( not 100% sure exactly what that means, but the lady on the phone said it was a good thing). I am just gonna take this thing one step at a time and hopefully God will lead me where he wants me to be. I have a wonderful family, and I wanna be around for a long long time to enjoy them, so I am going to do whatever has to be done to get healthier and stay that way. Thanks for reading. Take care and God Bless.:smile2:

Tori, what she was telling you is that your insurance covers your surgery. Often times insurance will have a co-pay for example mine was 85/15. This meant my insurance paid all but $500.00. Pray. God will reveal to you what His plan is. That is just what I did. In my life God moved quickly..lol at the time I felt like it was going slowly, but it was really rather quickly. Be at Peace and know that God is in control...I am looking forward to reading about your successes..

Thanks Jillian. I appreciate your response. That is basically what I am doing, praying and putting it all in God's hands. He will open doors where he sees fit, and close them too. Good luck to you and hope to read more from you later.:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
