I never quite know when is the right time to exercise. I ususally do it immediately after I eat, but someone told me it's like swimming and you should wait about 30 minutes and let the food start digesting somewhat before starting. Does anyone know the correct answer.

I don't know if there is a right time. I couldn't workout right after eating. I'd probably throw up. Some people say it's good to exercise in the morning because you have the most energy. I try not to exercise on an empty stomach as i can't work to my potential. I usually take a long walk around 1 pm and go to my cross training at 430. If I'm not cross training that day I do an hour on the elliptical around 1 or 2 pm and then walk directly after. I try not to leave my workout until the evening as I find I'm too exhausted in the evening to workout to my potential.

I work out in the mornings. I try to eat about an hour before I work out. I also change what I eat on days I work out. On workout days I try to eat some kind of whole grain and Protein for my Breakfast. The carbs in the whole grain fuels my workout better than protein and veggie carbs. You may find that this does or doesn't work for you.. experiment and see what works for your particular body and lifestyle. Good luck.

I am not a doctor but in my own point of view you must rest after eating. As we believe running or a heavy activity after eating might cause appendicitis. you must rest first before engaging any activity. just give an ample time for your digestive system to operate.

I would say any time you feel motivated is the right time. Yes it may/may not be better to exercise at a certain time etc but if you are not motivated at that particular time then it could be a problem.Do it when the mood takes you .

Agreed..anytime you feel the motivation to do it.....do it! That's the right time. I personally work out every morning before work. It gives me energy for the day and sets the pace of my eating for the rest of the day. If I worked out and feel good, i am less included to want to eat a lot and mess it up through the day...but that is just me

The right time to exercise is a time that works for you, that you can commit to.

There's nothing, really, more to it than that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
