Okay I am now 3 days post op, banded in the am on the 2nd so it has been 4 days all together. I have not had pain meds for nearly 18 hours now.

I am feeling so fatiqued and still very gassy. No matter how much I walk, but I remember the last time I had a surgery like this it took me a 5 or six days to feel better. My scale says I put on weight which I am imagining is still bloating and Water weight. I have not caught up yet with everything. I am following the liquid diet and calories, Protein, etc.

I have been eating between 60-75 grams of Protein a day and my Fluid intake is around 70oz.

So what is it? Why is it I am so tired and despite being gassy I am hungry. I keep drinking but then it makes me more gassy. I think it is that when I feel gassy I used to put carbs to ease the gas so I am thinking I am hungry and maybe I am not really truly hungry. Does that make sense?

I am doing well and my hubby is proud of me. I took my daughter out to Friendlies to eat and didn't even steal a bite of her ice cream! LOL They wouldn't just give me broth from the chicken Soup so decided to avoid the temptation.

Any advice? Is this fatique normal? I wonder when I can start adding mushy foods? I know I have to heal so waiting on that process. For now me and my blankies are going to go night night. Looking forward to advice, answers, opinions.

Ouuu and today I got out of the house, it stopped raining for a while and that was a trick and a half. I was tired after walking but a good tired. I got a pair of new sneakers for the gym.

I don't know if I would consider myself as being super gassy but I did have the "runs" for the first couple days. I think it was from the Protein Shots I had the first coupole days because it was an easy way of getting lots of Protein for little consumption. I did some walking the days after surgery and on the fourth day I went back to the gym using the treadmill slow to start and no incline (my mother came to stay with me and she needs to swim daily). I started out at 30 minutes on the treadmill and worked my way up to an hour. The first week I went to the gym in the morning and then came home and took a nap. A serious nap too; like for an hour or two. You're healing and your body needs time to recoop.

I was exhausted the first few days... a heating pad helped gas pains. I took pain pills for the first 4 days until I had to go back to work. How long do you have to go before you can incorporate the 'mushy' foods? It seems every doctor is different. I was able to have them after a week and that was only for 2 days then I was able to move onto soft foods. Once I got food in my system I had energy again. Hang in there! I hope those gas pains and fatigue goes away soon.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
