How big are your bites?

Recommended Posts

When I was researching GBS, they suggested using a baby fork or spoon to eat with to keep your bites in check. What size bite do you take? That may sound like a silly question...sorry if it is!

Take broccoli for instance, I buy the baby florets, so would it be recommended to eat 1 baby floret? How about meat, how big is the piece you put in your mouth?

Thanks!

That's not a silly question at all. I use small salad forks when I eat. I'd say my average bite would fit in a baby spoon. Some people have trouble with broccoli, so I'd say that your first bite should be the smallest floret you can find. :(

My dr. also said the size of a pencil eraser. I've always been a fast/big bite eater, sadly that hasnt changed since being banded. I'm sure once I get the proper restriction and experience that first pb/slime/stuck episode it will all change.:(

Thanks! I was thinking the same....about the size you'd feed a toddler. Makes sense so you don't end up swallowing too much. I am due for my first appointment next Tuesday :( I'm sure I'll get many answers to my questions at that point.

Thanks again!

I still take huge bites and then jsut hold them in my cheeks and chew bits of the bite at a time before I swallow - its pretty disgucting actually. I amn trying to take smaller bites!

When I was first out I would take bites as small as 1/2 a teaspoon. I'm ashamed to say I take regular fork fulls now but I chew the life out of it. I know this sounds sick, but I like having a mouth full of food, even if it takes me a 1/2 hour to chew it. I really should stop b/c I'm getting a fill soon and this will mess me up for sure.

Good question !!

I use salad forks but I will say I have started to eat bigger mouthfuls and not slowing down this is dangerous ground OLD BEHAVIOR. I have about 1.7cc in my 4cc band so after about 2 weeks post fill i feel like a bottomless pit and my old methods rear their ugly head. I have to go back to basics about a teaspoon with and chewing my food.< /p>

doesnt sound sick to me Eileen, how on earth do you enjoy the taste of food with hardly any of it in your mouth? The small bits lots of chewing thing probably makes it not worth bothering to eat half the time!

Thank you everyone. I'll be learning from my mistakes, I'm sure. Sometimes I eat now and wonder where it went because I'm not paying attention to what I'm doing!:eek Banding will surely slow me down!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
