Work brought in lunch....UGHHH

Recommended Posts

My job brought in Q-Doba for my department for lunch today.... my favorite!! I feel like I cheated, but didn't go too overboard. I took two spoonfuls of chicken and about 2 tsp of guacamole, and a drizzle of queso.... i was strong enough to avoid the tortillas, taco shells, chips, salsas, sour cream and shredded cheese.... but i still feel guilty, I wish I didn't do it.... :) I should have stuck to my yogurt ~ I was doing so well until now.

You made a good choice, you were sociable and chose wisely....you did what any of us probably would have done. This is a lifestyle change, it is not about giving up every bad thing for you, its more about everything in moderation.

I do feel like I could have definitely done worse, especially with the brownies and Cookies staring me in my face too. LOL. But I could have made an excuse and avoided it all together. The other thing is that all my co-workers now keep asking me if I am ok. Only my boss & supervisor know. I think I wouldnt have felt so bad if I were a little further out... I'm at 2 weeks today.

That would have been a healthy choice for anyone so don't get too upset. I go and get Mexican w/ my 4 yr old (who's nuts about cruncy shelled tacos) once a week and eat one taco. It's yummy and not too bad of an indulgence so I feel comfortable doing it.

Good job on not going for the chips!!

DUDE! You did awesome! I would have caved! Don't feel guilty...as someone stated above, this is a lifestyle shift. Do the best you can with what you've got. Don't beat yourself up. Pat yourself on the back.

Same thing happened to me last week. We had a luncheon with a pharmaceutical company we were starting up a new project with.

Our administrative assistant ordered Italian food. A huge pan of Pasta loaded with alfredo garlic sauce, italian bread, brownies, and salad.

I picked out the chicken from the Pasta and had some salad. I was so sad though, they rarely order Italian and when it was my project assignment.........BAM pasta!

You did great though, you avoided all the bad stuff :frown:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
