LB_Annie 0 Posted November 4, 2010 I have seen some old posts from other military wives who had the procedure done in Germany, but nothing remotely recent. I would love to talk to someone who went through the process over there. I'll be going in this time next month to talk to a doctor about getting the ball rolling. I am SOOOO excited! I've been reading tons on this forum and I definitely feel like I'm ready!
Korilynn 1 Posted November 6, 2010 Hi Annie, You posted in my Hello thread, and I just saw this one that you posted. I'm not in Germany, but we are stationed in England, So I would imagine the process would be similar since we are both Tricare Europe. Did you have any specific Questions? It didn't take me long to get approved, but my PCM has really been an advocate for me on this! Feel free to PM me with questions too if you'd like. Good luck! LB_Annie 0 Posted November 6, 2010 Thank you! How long has it taken you since the first time you talked to your Dr about it? Did it take a while to get the referral? I'm SO anxious to get it done. Honestly, as soon as we touch down in Germany I'm going to start working on finding a Dr. I want to have a sleep study done. Did you have one of those? I've lived in Europe, but never with Tricare, so I'm interested to see how it will all work out. Thank you SOO much!
Korilynn 1 Posted November 7, 2010 Wellllll.... When I told my PCM I was interested in getting a Lap Band she seemed like it was a great idea for me. She said I met all the criteria and I would be a good candidate. That was in July, (I have been trying to lose for probably 2 years now, losing some, then getting discouraged. But I have always had a weight problem...so, they have a record of me pretty much always being very overweight.) My husband was deployed in July, so I waited for him to get back before we scheduled my consultation. (I have to go about 2 hours away to a surgeon there...) I had my consultation on Sept 23, and my surgery is scheduled for the 13th of Nov. So, It really is only going to be about 6 weeks between things. I have heard that Tricare is really strict and hard to get approved with, but that has not been the case for me at all. I didn't have to have a sleep study. Let me know if you have any more questions.
