Can someone please explain the Sweet Spot? I know it's something like when you're doing really good, but I don't know. How do you really know you're at the Sweet Spot?

The sweet spot is a term that I think should be banned. It's a bit like the G Spot or the Holy Graille - some swear it exists but it can be very elusive.

It is supposedly the magical point at which you can eat a small portion of food and not feel any hunger for hours and hours.

Many people end up being way too tight because they are chasing that magical sweet spot.

In reality every time you have a fill you should find that you are able to be satisfied on smaller portions and go for a couple of hours without being hungry. With every fill your portions will decrease and time between meals will increase for a while.

Do not expect that there is a point whereby you will be satisfied on 3 meals of about 1/2 cup per day. That is what some people seem to believe the sweet spot to be and their Quest for this leads to them being too tight.Too tight is a problem as you can't eat proper food, you resort to high cal slider foods, you are constantly hungry and you don't lose weight! Too tight can also cause reflux, slips etc.

I've experienced that one.

I was too tight at my last fill and resorted to eating runny meals that weren't making me full - they were just easier to eat.

I put on a kilo because of that and was eating small foods all the time to keep my hunger down. In the end I was intaking too many calories.

I think it's just another word for 'being able to eat small meals and feeling satisfied'.

There's people out there that are constantly trying to find that magical spot where they can eat whatever consistancy of food they want, and have their hunger supressed. - It doesn't work that way. and there's always going to be foods you can't have.

When you find the right amount of fill that works for you, you'll be able to comfortably eat small portions of food and be satisfied. If you're too tight, it can lead to weight gain. In the end you just need to find what's right for you. Everyone's going to be different and some people's restrictions are going to be greater than others.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
