just starting my new life

Recommended Posts

i am a 38 year old female, who weighs 294lbs and i am only 5'3"!

i am a divorced single mother of 5 kids. i work approx 12-14 5 days a week. i have the worst eating habits.

on october 27 2010 i changed my life with the lap band surgery. i did not do pre op diet. so today is 1 week, and i am starving. im so sick of Water and ice. the Protein is gross, i stopped drinking the powder mixed with water. im so sick of chicken broth. yesterday i started eating sugarfree Jello. my headaches are finally gone, but i am hungry. i am so afraid to feel the "wanna throw up" feeling. so i limit myself of how much i have in a day. yesterday i had, 1 12oz cup of broth, 2 jello cups, and 2 20oz bottles of cristal lite. my sleeping is also not well. i am feeling a little depressed. i need to snap out of this and feel better. what is so hard is to hide the hunger pains and growling of my stomache.

my question is: what is anybodys day like on there 2 week of post op. what do you have to eat the whole day?

Hello and welcome to the journey!!! Week 1 was was truly HELL week! Week 2 was much much better.

My Doc allowed cottage cheese (which I am not a huge fan of) I put some vanilla yogurt in mine to make it taste a bit better. I also ate lots of Slip Pea Soup that week. I would say my main staple during week 2 was Protein Drinks, broth, yogurt, cottage cheese, split pea soup and i cheated with some hummus. I was not too hungry that week and would get full quickly so that week was not too bad.

You'll be past this stage so quickly!!! These hell weeks will be just a distant memory:smile2:

Good luck

you may want to call your doc and see if you can add some fuller liquid to your diet. It does get better. I was very emotional and down during the first couple of weeks but i do feel better now. Once you are able to eat mushies you will start to feel better too! Just remember that this is a new begining for you! which means new habits too!

I suggest trying a different Protein drink...its so important, and will really help to keep you satisfied so you don't feel like your starving. There are so many different brands out there...so don't give up. The liquid phase is the toughest, it does get better. Stay strong...YOU CAN DO THIS, and soon you will be on your way and this will be a distant memory. Good luck....it will get better! ~Christy

If you are on a clear liquid diet only, you don't need to be so restrictive on what you allow yourself to eat. I was unfortunate to never have restriction right after surgery so I drank and drank all day long the first week post-op.

But if you don't think you can take it another day, call your surgeon. Sometimes they will bump you up to the next week's food or allow you to introduce fuller liquids.

It does it get better! After 7 days, I felt 100% again.

Sorry its taken me so long to respond...this new site has me all confused. I figure by now your banded :) Congrats and welcome to the journey. Hmmm suggestions....1. Stay Hydrated...Water is so important 2. Protein Protein protein 3. Excercise is good for the mind, body and soul 4. Support System, whether it be friends, family, support groups or here :o) The band is a tool, use it...and it works. You may not see alot of change the first few months until your filled....be patient and compassinate to yourself. I also suggest taking measurements...I can't tell you how much it helped to know I was shrinking, when that scale wouldn't budge. Find a routine...write it down...for me it keeps me honest and accountable to myself. Best of luck to you. I look forward to hearing your success!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
