mrsgdmc 0 Posted December 21, 2005 I had surgery on the 12/15 and my shoulder and lower back wont stop hurting... I belch so much that my throat is very sore. I'm miserable, I almost regret going through this after reading post from newbies on this group and others and how good they are doing... Ive tried walking, and heat pads but the only things that works is the meds. My portal areas are not bothing me anymore, so I didnt think I should take the meds for gas but I guess I'll have to give in tonight becuase I cant take it anymore. Can someone tell me how long will this pain last? :cry thanks a bunch
jrenae 0 Posted December 21, 2005 I know exactly what you mean. I'm sorry to say that the pain you are experiencing is trapped gas. I was banded dec 16 and i am just now getting over it. I thought i was gonna die and was regretting it too. The only thing i did is walked and prayed. I'm still getting some back pains. even as i sit here at my computer now typing to you i feel the middle of my back hurting. again, I hate to hear that somelse is going through what i went through. I know it hurts. just walk as much as you can. and then try exercising your top half of your body. kinda like circles or something and see if that would loosen it up. My mom and husband patted on my back for me and that helped too. sorry i couldnt help more.
Guest SAMPECKINPAH Posted December 21, 2005 I was banded Dec 6. I experienced horrific pain in my shoulder and neck for about 10 days after the surgery. The pain eventually went away, however, so hang in there!

Cheri 0 Posted December 21, 2005 Same nasty gas experience here! Ya feel like you're gonna die, then one day you wake up, spend half the day doing whatever and realize . . . hey, the pain is gone!! It does go away. I still have a teenie tiny pang sometimes when I sleep on my left side or drink too much too fast!! Just know that it does go away in time (I am 2 1/2 weeks out and finally mostly pain-free) - keep on the gas X. I found that the pain meds didn't help, heating pad was okay, but the best thing for mine was one of those massager pillows (Walmart $9) and an ice pack!!!! Good luck, girlie, you'll get through this and be glad you made the decision to find the happier, healthier you!!!! ~cheri

barriners 0 Posted December 24, 2005 Had surgery 12/16 and my port & stretch marks under hurts when I move. Have tried ice packs and doesn't seem to help much. Any other ideas?
Jachut 487 Posted December 24, 2005 Its only now 2 weeks later that I've realised I do have a bit of gas discomfort, a week back I would have said I'd had no pain at all from the surgery. I feel exactly like I did after each of my babies was born - I got weak and achey in my left side, with a pain like a stitch. It bothers me when I stand up for long, its a bit tender to the touch, but not so bad that it particularly worries me, just annoying. I think they say generally 3 weeks give or take.
