I went in today for pre-anesthesia for port revision on Friday. This whole experience has been exasperating. I am just over 2 months post-op, so was hoping most or all of the expense for this surgery would be covered under my 90 day global fee's...apparently that is not the case. That was the first slam. I stopped by the surgeon's office and find out that I will also likely have to pay him a hefty amount:cursing: OH and I forgot to mention that the nurse doing my pre-anesthesia work up says she hears a heart murmur. A murmur that was not there 2 months ago before surgery! She seemed unconcerned. There were no labs ordered for me, no EKG, I can't even be sure she documented it. She just commented, "You have a murmur." When I told her I didn't she did listen again, and said "yes you do." I've been a nurse for 15 yrs (though am not currently working as a nurse) and I discussed this with a friend that is also a nurse. We both concluded I need to try to get in with my PCP tomorrow and let her take a listen and see if she is concerned. Whats so crazy about a possible new murmur is that I'm doing all this to get HEALTHIER. Okay...stepping off the soap box. Prayers are appreciated.

I have insurance, but these are charges after the insurance pays. Good news today though. Surgeon is forgoing his charges and hospital has decreased their amount. Better news...

NO MURMUR per my PCP! Things are finally settling down I think, I feel better about surgery on Friday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
