I LOVE MY BAND!

I know this forum tends to have a lot of problems discussed, and that's good because we need to know. But I wanted to put a message on here to Celebrate my band!!! BECAUSE I LOVE IT!!!

Ok. Here's my info....had surgery on the 9th, liquids for a week, mushies for a few days (ok, I couldn't handle it anymore after the 10 days full liquids before surgery, so I started early). I have had.....NO BURPING, NO PB'S, NO SLIMING, NO HEARTBURN, NO BARFING, NO food REACTIONS. And trust me, I've eaten small amount of stuff I probably shouldn't have.

My biggest concern is that I will get to a place of eating too much, stretching, etc. But I'm trying to be good, letting the band do it's job, listening to my body, making better choices, taking my supplement and exercizing. I'm going to let the band do what it's supposed to do and not worry. And I've lost 12 pounds! Woo hoo.

I refuse to look at the scale until my next Doctor appoint on Jan 6. And I wont be too crazy if it's not a ton of weight lost because of Christmas. I'm just taking it slow and enjoying the ride!

yeah, someone else who couldn't wait to eat food. my surgery was on the 8th and I just had my first doctors apt.. he was pleased I lost 10 lbs. I wouldn't be called a perfect bandster I ate after doing research on different diets after banding. I like the 3 days of each liquid, mushie, diced/soft diet the best.. I'm trying, and was told to try to follow the diet as ordered but no scolding was done I have had no problems so far.! small portions and chew chew chew

I love mine too - not on food yet though, I've got to do liquids for 3 weeks, so a week and a half to go still. Will still be on liquids for Christmas. But I'm not hungry and I've lost 12lb or so as well and its' been soooooo easy. I feel fantastic!

I love my band too (except the day the family went to Cracker Barrel and I spent the meal in the car starving and crying - LOL)!! I am on sort of mushies now - I'm doing a Protein shake for Breakfast (powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein really is a life saver!!), cottage cheese or sugar free pudding for lunch, and then cream Soup for dinner. I am drinking Water by the bucket, too. I do find that I am not full after 1 cup, but I stop anyway. If I am still hungry in a while, I get about 1/4 cup of something mushy. Never any more because I don't want to ruin it already!!!

Thanks for this nice place to post!!!

I love my band.....I think. No just kidding. I am hungry and I am on liquid for three weeks. I will be on liquid for Christmas and New Years. I did not think this would be a problem as I expected to not be hungry. I saw my Dr today (1 week post op) and she said that things look good but to stick to the diet as given I am down 9lbs since surgery, 20 since this summer.

SO....I must admit that I do LOVE MY BAND TOO!!!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
