About to have a melt down here...

I posted last week about how tired I've been. I also have anxiety and depression. I went to my family doc 2 weeks ago b/c my anxiety and depression had gotten worse and I was feeling tired all the time. She changed my Prozac to Cymbalta. I'm still tired but my anxiety and depression is less.

I've never had my Iron levels or B12 levels checked. My surgeon doesn't check those at all. I also have sleep apnea and I haven't had it rechecked since 2005. I'm using a CPap machine and I'm using the same settings that I've used since my last sleep test 5 years ago.

I'm so flipping tired of being tired and exhausted. I cannot even find the energy to workout.

Should I just go back again this week and see if she can do some blood work and maybe another sleep study or give the Cymbalta a little more time? I'm so frustrated right now.

I would definately get that bloodwork checked out just to be sure all your levels are okay.

I know when i'm fatigued, my Iron is usually the culprit

I hope everything perks up for you!

Good luck!

you should also have another sleep study test. your cpap levels probably changed. we had this discussion in our support group class. and everyone that was using it came off of the cpap machine once they started losing weight.

Part of me thinks it maybe something to do with my CPap but then again I'm more tired now than I was 30 pounds ago. I would think my apnea would be better now and I wouldn't be as tired.

Hi Amanda. I too have struggled with depresssion and anxiety for years. I had to switch from Cymbalta to Celexa about 2 months prior to my surgery. It took about 6 weeks before I actually started to feel better, but the bloodwork is probably a good idea too. Hope you feel better soon.

I believe most deppressants take a month before an effect is felt. Sounds like you get your meds from your primary. You may want to think about going to a psychiatrist, hopefully you have insurance. They are experts when it comes to peoples moods. I also think bloodwork is a great idea.

my dr.s are obsessive about tracking my blood work. i'm surprised yours aren't more pro-active particularly Iron which can be an issue. when i was first on the realy low calorie regimen they put me on after my surgery i was very tired especially in the afternoon. i stopped using my cpap machine completely a while ago and seem to be sleeping just fine without it. i would definitely talk more with both your dr. and your surgeon's office and look for answers..

Ask that your Vitamin D, B12, Iron and Thyroid be checked. Vit D is one that hardly any doctor will every bother to do. My doctor is obsessive about complete lab work and she did it about a year and a half ago and I was super defecient in D. It's a huge issue in many people, but they never know it. It can lead to tiredness and depression as well as lower immune level. I was on a prescription Vit D for 4 weeks and then on to Citracal for good.

I read an article last year about anyone above Oklahoma getting depressed in the winter time is due to the lack of Vitamin D from sun exposure. Last year I moved from TX to MO and could not figure out why I seem to get depressed easily.

So this week I started tanning. I know all the risks and comments people have on this and I am certainly not trying to persuade anyone else to do it. I am just stating that I read the article in Woman's Day and I am taking steps to hopefully not have the same experience.

Good luck at the doc! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
