23&LQQKIN2bThin 0 Posted November 1, 2010 I am a very far 6 months out pre op BUT I have sen a lot of people here who have had band erosion or their reasons to have the band removed and then be re-banded? Did insurance cover the re-banding? How did the process go? Whatever info you can share would be great i am just trying to be as educated about the entire thing as possible. Thanks!!
Melissannde 41 Posted November 1, 2010 I don't have any personal experience, but the support group leader, who works coordinating insurance for my doctor.. said last month that very often insurances have a one WLS provision. That doesn't mean that they might not cover if something went wrong. I think what she was saying is that you can't get banded, then a year later decide the band isn't for you and get your insurance to cover a different surgery. Please bear in mind that there are lots of us bandsters who are out living a thinner life without major problems. Support groups tend to have more posters who are having problems. It's just the nature of the beast. Follow most of the banding guidelines most of the time and your likelihood of having problems is greatly reduced and your chances of success are greatly enhanced. Keep asking questions, we all learn from them.
ElfiePoo 109 Posted November 1, 2010 I see a lot of posts from people *worrying* about erosion and slippage, but have seen only seen the rare post where someone actually had a problem. .
