nurse4126 19 Posted December 20, 2005 Has anyone followed the weight watchers points system after banding? I am having all kinds of trouble sticking to a healthy eating program. I kinda thought I would have it easier than this. I have had 2 fills and still have room to be bad!
the best me 6 Posted December 20, 2005 I ended up using the Richard Simmons food Mover for about a week and it helped me to see where I could improve my food choices. What is odd, though, is how much easier it is to follow a healthy diet when banded. You would probably do well on something structured for a bit...just to teach yourself how you SHOULD be eating. I like the WW Points Systems. With young children, though, it's hard to make the meetings. I have the plan info from last time I joined but the meetings can be very helpful. I wonder if there's a WW meeting for folks with WLS? Wonder if that would be good? You could always start a "weekly meeting" here? Just to weigh in and discuss banded WW issues? Someone on here doesn't like WW at all...I can't remember who. I'm sure she'll check in and you'll get another perspective.
DeLarla 22 Posted December 20, 2005 I'm supposed to join WW this weekend. I promised my bypass friend (who has gained 50 pounds back) that I'd do it with her. I cracked up and threw the scale at the wall last time I joined WW, but that was pre-band. I'm almost ready to start again, so I'll let you know if it's easier. Ruthie 2 Posted December 20, 2005 I haven't done WW since being banded but have done it many many times before I was banded. I love the program. I think it's sensible and doable. I like the accountability of the meetings. I tried to do it online a couple of times and could never stick to it because I didn't have to be accountable. I think the points are easy and I just really really like the program. Good Luck!
Jachut 487 Posted December 20, 2005 I think it's a good system, and very easy to learn, its automatic to me now, I know how many points are in just about everything. Hmmm, wonder why it never worked then? Oh well, at least I knew how many points I was overeating by.
Anwyn 0 Posted December 20, 2005 I like WW too... it's all about a variety of foods in moderation, which is how we should be eating anyways. I say take help and support wherever you can get it. If having a program to follow and the accountability of that weekly weigh-in keeps you on track until you get that restriction just right, go for it! And congratulations on your 40 lb loss - you're doing great!
schel 0 Posted December 21, 2005 I am recently banded, and am planning to join after the first of the year AGAIN! Mostly because I want to be sucessful and I feel the meetings are what gave me push to be GOOD in the past. Weight Watchers is recognized by my Doc and he said "great program." I have to agree. So what do I think? GO FOR IT! Schel
Jachut 487 Posted December 21, 2005 Weight Watchers is bringing out a brand new program in the New Year here in Australia - are they doing so in the States too? I have the entire home point program - I dont like the meetings much, I've got better things to do than sit around discussing how satisifying it is to mix jelly crystals in natural yogurt if you're after something sweet, lol. Puhlease! It just doesnt replace a Mars bar does it? Hehehe. But I love the concept of points, whereas I hate counting calories, go figure, it's basically the same thing. Monica S 1 Posted December 21, 2005 I have recently been thinking about joining WW again after the new year. I was banded on 11/23/05 and will be getting my first fill on 1/4/06. I think the band will help me to stick to the points, which I have never been able to do before. If anyone else is on WW or planning to be, let's email each other for support and for that all-important accountability! Monica
