JillianRN 0 Posted October 30, 2010 I was banded October 8th and my port is place up higher in my abdominal area. Since surgery, I have had port pain. My skin is not red or hot to the touch. There is a slight amount of swelling. The discomfort is continuous and increases during the daytime. The skin on my entire stomach feels hyper-sensitive to the touch. I can hardly stand for my clothing to touch my skin. I have no problems eating or drinking and I am not schedule for my first fill until Nov 18. All of my incision lines are well healed and I use shea butter on them. The skin on my stomach is not dry. Tylenol does not make a difference. I do not have a temperature. Any advice?
Apples2 19 Posted October 30, 2010 Jullian...I remember it well...that creeping skin feeling. It does get better. I couldn't stand to have the elastic of my waistband anywhere close to my port (which is also very high). It took me about 6 months to even want to wear jeans. But, after about 17 months, I even forget I have a port and all is well. Good luck to you!
vlp1968 83 Posted October 31, 2010 You may want to call your doc. and let them know what's going on. Just to be on the safe side.
gracierose 0 Posted October 31, 2010 Jillian I wonder if their was some inflamed nerves involved in the incisional area, particularly since you have had more than the usual pain since post op. The port is attached to abdominal muscle. It's possible there are fussy stitches internally. I would definitely call and ask for a radiography testing if they cannot give you an answer. experian26 0 Posted October 31, 2010 Hello Jullian? I was banded on 10/7/10 and I had that same feeling as you described. My port is placed higher in my stomach area also. The feeling you described has gone away now. I agree with Vlp1968. Call your doctor and let him/her know what you are feeling. Good luck. Wish you the best.
