Hello everyone ... I'm obviously new here .. my names Kylee.. im 22 years old and am just beginning my Lap-Band journey ! I am 3 months in to my supervised diet with my pcp and am very excited for the next few months to come. I am looking forward to the new life for me, and how much more I will be able to do for my 3 year old daughter. Right now I feel like a terrible mother because I can't run and play with her, and do all the things I should be able to like normal 22 year olds.. I have been around the board here "lurking" and finally decided to post because although I'm getting support from my mom who is 1 year post surgery on her lapband, I just sometimes need other peoples experiences to reassure me that everything is going to work out.. So again, hello and hope to make some long time friends!!

HI there! Haven't talked to you in a while. Was wondering about your progress. How is it going? Did you get a surgery date yet? I am 5 wks post op. I lost 30 lbs. and had 1 fill of only 1/2 cc. Seems wt loss is at a stand still now that I am on reg foods. Its hard. I sometimes get frustrated. Well at least i am not gaining. How is your Mom doing - I know you mentioned she is 1 yr. post op on her band. How much did she lose? Well you will have to post soon and let us know how you're doing. Take care. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
