Cloeymn36 0 Posted December 20, 2005 Now I never listen to this woman because I basically think she is on a major power trip and so rigid in her thinking and rude to callers but I unfortunately got stuck in a car with her on the radio and I can NOT believe what this woman said about overweight people... A woman called and said that her husband recently gained 30 lbs. and she wondered if it was wrong of her to be bothered by this. Dr. Laura said, "Of COURSE you should be bothered! Your husband is living an undisciplined life - eating whatever he wants and not exercising - this is all about one's CHARACTER. Obviously your problem with your husband is that he has NO CHARACTER to allow himself to behave this way!" This woman has a national syndicated talk show and she NOT ONCE inquired as to what could be happening in this man's life that he put on this weight. The idea that there could possibly be stressors within him, the marriage or even looking at this change in the husband with some empathy did not even remotely happen. Instead she attacked his character. So I guess she officially endorses discrimination of overweight people by anniliating their characters. Lovely! I wanted to pull over and take a bat to my radio! Guest Kira M Posted December 20, 2005 Hi, Cloey. "dr" Laura is a bigoted asshole. I'm sorry you were subjected to her drivel. She LIVES to belittle different kinds of people. Try to wash that exprerience from your noggin, and don't take it personally
Anwyn 0 Posted December 20, 2005 I loved it when they unearthed those topless photos of herself that she let an old boyfriend take. I guess she's not as perfect as she'd like us to think, eh?
SuperDaddy! 1 Posted December 20, 2005 You sure it wasn't just a "wardrobe malfunction"?!
puddin 7 Posted December 20, 2005 I like Dr. Laura. She tells it like it is, which is in short supply these days. The fat comment might have been over the top, but you never know what this woman was telling Dr. Laura. I have to admit that I don't listen to her, but mostly because I can't stand the fact that people are calling in for advice with their moral dilemmas when they know how she's going to treat them. BTW, she concedes that she's got a few wild years under her belt. She changed, converted to Judaism, and lives for the better now. I've got to admire most people who can do that. TommyO 5 Posted December 20, 2005 Three cheers for everyone who ever had a wild side then one day turned it around by becoming Judgemental, rude, uncarring and willing to say anything controversial to raise the ratings. It's great the she can make a living by judging others based on a 15 second conversation. Being omnipitant must be an increadibly wonderful thing for her. To be able to "tell it like it is" one must assume that someone knows "what it is" I am certain that no human to date has figured it out and even more certain that Dr. Laura has not. To bad she didn't stay wild and off the air!!

HarleyNana 10 Posted December 20, 2005 I don't think she has a compassionate bone in her body. She's rude and crude. And, that book she wrote about how to treat your husband, pleeeezzzzzzzzz! Where's the book on how to treat your wife. Crazier yet, why do I listen to this woman! It's obvious I'm not a counselor, she's always the nicest to the one I'd like to have arrested, LOL. dylansmom 27 Posted December 20, 2005 I've never even heard of her, but if she's a judgemental wench, then I'm glad I've never heard of her.
Baron Patrick 0 Posted December 20, 2005 You sure it wasn't just a "wardrobe malfunction"?! Not the way she was sitting / laying / spreading!!! She is absolutely the most irritating, grating, and number one hypocrite I've ever heard. She doesn't even take her own advise!
DeLarla 22 Posted December 20, 2005 Tommy O, who are you, and why haven't I seen you around before? We should meet (on-line at least) considering you're my new hero. She's one of those people I have fun laughing at.
ejezyk 0 Posted December 20, 2005 People listen to her.... I think many people want to be hurt sado masochism.... I think I was kind of like that with alot of things. If I was told I was a terrible person I could continue old behavior. The reward Dr. Laura for being a *&()^%% go figue I wish I could make a living out of being a ^&%$(*((
puddin 7 Posted December 20, 2005 It's funny that everyone's sitting here judging her, calling her judgemental. Seems a bit hypocritical, don't you think? Ecspecially when we're talking about a past that people obviously don't know the whole history about. Isn't that something that we've struggled with our entire lives? She wouldn't be on the air if people didn't want to call in and get advice from the woman. Obviously some people think she's doing them some good. If you don't like her advice DON'T LISTEN TO HER! Anwyn 0 Posted December 20, 2005 Actually, I'm not being judgemental. I don't look down on her for posing topless. Whatever floats your boat, I always say... I don't even disagree with some of her views, I just think there are productive, non-belittling ways to impart advice. But, when someone stands in judgement on what other people do they invite scrutiny into their own actions. It's just human nature to feel a little better about our imperfect lives when a sanctimonious blow-hard messes up. And I don't listen to her. But that doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to have an opinion on her (God knows she always has one).
