Any ideas behind this reasoning...

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the replies.. I didn't mean the 6 weeks to wait for a fill but more the 6 weeks of liquid/puree. Some people I have heard from only had 1 week post-op on liquid then off to solids.

Thanks again!

I was going to do the one hole surgery too because my surgeon is one of the 5 who does it, but he actually said he had no really good reason to do it because there is more pain involved, it takes longer to heal and it was safer for me as he had much more room to work with the 4 tiny incisions. He said unless I planned on bikini beach bathing, going with the one hole wasn't really necessary. Also, He found a hiatal hernia which is so much easier to fix with the 4 incisions. I do plan on looking damn hot in a bathing suit next summer and I will need some nip and tucking thanks to the C Section leaving me flabby, but the scars I have are so minimal that I just don't care.

I have my meeting with the surgeon on Monday (11/1). His way of doing things after surgery doesn't seem to go along with a lot of what I'm reading here. After surgery I will not have a fill, but I will be on 3 weeks of liquid then 3 weeks of puree. At 6 weeks he will do my first fill.

Now of course I have this 'question' on my list of things to ask him on Monday but just curious about your thoughts.:wink2:

My surgery is this coming Thursday, 11/4. My surgeon seems to be from the same school of thought as yours; however, three family members have had the gastric bypass (in another state); one of who was done by a pioneer in the surgery. I know that all surgeons differ - but......they all had to follow a low carb, high Protein diet for as long as one week and as short as one day (one done by the pioneer). Also, they all had different lengths of time post-op for liquids and purees. All were also done through laporiscopy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
