I've been thinking about trying the Muscle Milk Light. I find if I buy premade shakes then I drink 1 every day. If I have to make my own I start lagging on it. I just can't find time to make them. I know it only takes 5 minutes but it's easier and quicker to drink one pre made.

I use EAS chocolate powder. Tastes much better IMO. I bought a case of muscle milk at Sam's Club and it was *horrible*. I tried giving it to a few people who also drink shakes and they declined after one taste. I ended up throwing it all out. ;-p

LOVE muscle milk light. I've tried so many different kinds of Protein powders, and this for me by far tasted the best. I went into a Vitamin Shoppe and a GNC to ask them if there was anything that tasted as good out there to try something different, and everyone there pretty much agreed that Muscle Milk tasted the best. I would have it for all my meals except I know that you also need to actually EAT . My favorite flavor is chocolate Milk, which I sometimes mix a little fat free sugar free pudding in with the powder to get a variation of flavor and thickness. It can get kinda pricey though, but I found it on a site called Mass Nutrition for about $17 each 1.65 tub. I ordered the Peanut Butter/Chocolate, Cake Batter and another one that I have forgotten haha!

The powder is way better than the pre made ones, plus it is better calorie and Protein wise. I use the chocolate powder mixed with milk. I've been trying to cut the milk with some Water to lower the calories, but I can't go straight water because it just doesn't taste as good. I do one scoop to 8oz of liquid. It makes a thin shake. I don't like them thick at all.

How many of you drink muscle milk to help get your Protein in for the day? I kind of like it.

I drink the ones with 22g of Protein for lunch. I LOVE them. And I love being able to just grab it out of the fridge. I also slack when I have to make the shake. And there is over 1g of protein per 10 calories which is great. I buy the huge cases at Sams Club.

I don't drink shakes as a regular thing. I much prefer to get my Protein in "real food".

However, sometimes when I'm pressed for time, I will grab a RTD shake. I do like the Muscle Milk LIGHT.. but only in the vanilla or strawberry creme. The chocolate is nasty IMO. If the RTD light comes in other flavors I haven't found it in my area.

I love Muscle Milk. I am lactose intolerant so I use the powder (chocolate). I mix half soy milk and half Water. I have it for Breakfast every morning -- I cannot get food down in the morning no matter how hard I try. So the Muscle Milk is great. I buy it at costco for $26 for 40 scoops at 26gr of Protein per scoop.

I sometimes stop at the gas station on the way to work and buy one out of their fridge. They have 25 grams of Protein. They are a lot more expensive than buying the kind you mix, but it is easier. Since my band won't allow me to eat until about noon, I can drink the shake.< /p>

I really like Muscle Milk. My son, who is a Marine and is constantly working out, suggested that I try it. I like both the chocolate and vanilla.

I am too tight in the morning for solids and I am a vegetarian so Protein is a concern. I drink a Premier Protein (from Costco) every morning. It is 30g of protein and only 160 cals. Tastes great. I don't like the taste of MM but maybe I'll try the lite version and see, Thanks.

WOW! 160 calories and 30 g of protein!! I wish I was a costco member so I could try that! That sounds amazing! I just googled it and I was reading that there are some quality control issues (weird lumpiness, shakes that are spoiled). Have you had any experiences like that? I'm thinking maybe I'll order some online and try them out. The nutrition facts are amazing - better than Muscle Milk nutrition (although I do love MM).

I drank it during my pre-op diet and would maybe drink it more now, but it's a little pricey for me. I do drink Slim-Fast like drinks for some Protein, even though they don't have near as much protein. They still help me anyhow.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
