2 Days Till Surgery!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I go in for my band on the 21st!!! Tonight was my 'last supper' so to speak! lol! My kids have had a blast this weekend eating with me all the things I know it will be awhile before I can eat again..and then never totally pig out again! It was a fun way to say good-bye to the old habit!

Going to meet w/ the anistesiologist (excuse the spelling!) in the morning. Tomorrow starts the Clear Liquids for me which will be a challenge but I know I can do it. The hard part will be Wednesday w/ nothing to eat or drink after midnight and surgery isn't until 2pm! YUCK! lol!

I'm hanging in there better than I expected through the pre-days, had a little crying jag this morning because there are so many lose ends right now. (The surgery date kinda fell into my lap so don't want to postpone it anymore!) We are moving and then Christmas is this week! Just a busy time.

One concern! (Don't anyone laugh here! LOL!) We have 50 yard line tickets for the KC Chief's game on Saturday the 24th. What are the changes I'm going to want to go??? It's the year that the kids aren't w/ us for Christmas so my DH and I have been looking forward to going to the game. I REALLY want to go...but am I being unrealistic 3 days post op??? Advice everyone! And will I feel like going into the office for a few hours on Friday?????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
