Sun Rae 7 Posted October 29, 2010 Hello fellow Bandsters! I'm 9 days post op and doing really great. I was wondering about this funny taste that I keep having in my mouth. It's almost kinda metallic - if that makes any sense. I've never been one to take Vitamins, but have taken my 2 Flintstones a day faithfully since surgery. Could that be it? I keep brushing my teeth and my husband swears that my breath doesn't stink, but it just tastes kinda funky. Thoughts?
BWESLEY 6 Posted October 29, 2010 some times the anst will do that to your taste buds you can try a vitamine without Iron and see if that changes it. p.s. if i wear copper that does it to me. good luck
Froggie D 1 Posted October 29, 2010 If you did a preop with high Protein and are 9 days postop and not eating much, you may be in ketosis. This is a state where your body burns more glycogen in your liver and if you eat low carbs - the desired state in the Atkin's diet. You can read about it on the internet for more info. You lose well in this state.
samomom 19 Posted October 29, 2010 Its the ketosis. The taste sucks, but the results are great. It means that your body is burning more fat and Protein instead of carbs. The taste is acetone. Google it. Its a good thing! Just remember that every time you get the funky taste, you are actively burning fat!
AlienBandit 10 Posted October 29, 2010 Ketosis is so good. It means your burning and going to lose weight. I find sometimes when I am in ketosis my clothes begin to smell more metallic if I am working out at the gym. It is weird I know but after a few diets that monitored my ketons I got used to it. Once you start to maintain more it wont be a factor.
