Post Op Clear Liquid Diet

Recommended Posts

My doc said no Protein or Vitamins until I saw him on the 7th day. The hunger is one thing, I know I can make it thru that. What I can't make it thru is this weak feeling, the dizziness and the feeling that I'm going to pass out. I want Vitamins BAD!

When he says no Protein, does he mean absolutely none or just no solid protein? There are clear liquid Proteins. Isopure I think is clear. You could even make up sugar-free Jello and drink it liquid.. it has a tiny bit of protein in it. unjury may or may not be clear.

Please call and clarify. I agree, Clear Liquids alone (especially if he's requiring sugar free) would be difficult to handle for a week.

Hope you're feeling better.

Call your doctor and let him/her know of your feelings of weakness and dizziness. Discuss the option of Proteins. Don't wait call.

He meant absolutely no Protein of any kind until I saw him 7days later. Monday I'm putting myself on regular liquid diet with Protein because his office was not able to schedule me in until Wednesday and they must be crazy if they think I'm waiting that long.

Thanks everyone for you thoughts. You all really got me thru this difficult time.

We're all feelling worried about you - PHONE YOUR DOCTOR PLEASE. The dizziness sounds like dehydration so make sure you're drinking 8 glasses of Water a day. Let us know how you're doing....we're rooting for you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
