Full but no restriction!

Recommended Posts

Okay I hate to complain so soon, but has been so long since I've had a fill I have forgotten what's next! I was filled 2.2cc (bAND SIZE 11) on 10/8/10 (almost 3 weeks ago). I was totally empty. But for the last couple of days, I have felt no restriction. However, I am not able to eat an entire meal. Should I feel this way this soon after my fill? Is there something wrong or does it sound like I just need another fill? Please suggest something! I use fill centers USA and will have to drive another 2 hours to get a fill, but I need to know should I schedule?

Hi,

Seems as though we might be struggling with the same issue.

I just had my fill reduced and can now eat about half a meal but am a bit freaked at not feeling any restriction.

Are you losing weight?

It's too soon for me to tell as I only had my band fill reduced a couple of days ago, but I guess that would be a good gage as to how things are going.

I also have a long trip for a fill, 10-12 hours by car, ferry and transit, so I'm anxious to find out soon, as my clinic only does fills on Wednesdays.

Let me know how you're doing.

Not sure what you guys mean by a meal...less than one cup? If you can eat only about that and stay satisfied for 4 hours and are losing weight I think that means youre pretty good.

The tittle of your post makes no sense.

The definition of good restriction is feeling full.

One of the most common misconceptions I've found that people have about the band is that it is supposed to "restrict" what you can and can't eat.

The feeling you are looking for is what happens when your band is too tight or you eat too much!

Normal restriction is the feeling of being satiated, i.e. being able to wait four hours between meals without the feeling of starving hunger.

I disagree about the band not restricting how much you can eat. I am restricted on how much I can eat. I read some of the posts on what others are eating and there is no way I could get all that down! I can eat about a half a cup at a time and I am never hungry till the next meal. I try to eat 4 of these meals a day and make sure I get enough calories and Protein for the day. I have 5.7ccs in a 10cc band and I feel great and have lost about ten pounds in the 5 weeks since that last fill.

I went from being over full (only able to eat 1/8th cup) and having some taken out to now being able to eat over 1 cup and being hungry in a few hours... ugh. So hard to find that perfect place! My doc only does fills on Wednesdays too and I have a 8 hour drive to see him. I lost 13 lbs in 2 weeks being over full and have gained 4 lbs back since my unfill two weeks ago! ACK!

Man I thought I had it bad, where in the heck do you live?

I live in Albuquerque NM and my surgeon is in El Paso TX. He visits Albuquerque ONE day every 3 months so I think i'm gonna wait till he is here at the end of January. I just hate taking the time off and that long boring drive.. ugh. So, i'm gonna try keeping my weight down till he comes back... Which hasnt been easy with the holidays here! ohmy.gif

Thanks, but I've put on almost 5 pounds since my unfill!! I cant stop eating and it's so easy! I keep telling myself this is just a blip in the road, but it's so discouraging. I appreciate your support tho! It really makes a difference.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
