Any cyclist out there?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering what kind of bike to purchase. Should I but a nice bike like TREK or get something cheaper to see if I like it? What other brands are there? What should I look for in a bike?

Thanks.

If you're going to get a bike, get a decent one. And get it at a reputable bike shop. They will be able to help you choose a bike for your needs and help you care for it. Get it at Wal-mart and you are left on your own. My husband and I own Specialized bikes. They are very good. The first bike I owned (and rode after surgery) was a comfort bike. Heavy but it got me on the road. Now I ride a road bike. It's lighter and faster (or it would be if I wasn't towing a kid). It's good for paved trails. Find a bike shop and talk to the salesperson. They can help you find the bike for you.

I bought a Trek the first time and love it. It is a road bike and we would ride it on trails and on the country roads. My sister and I got to the point we were riding 10-20 miles/day. Love it! That was about 4 years ago, now I need to get back to it! Have fun and enjoy!

If you're reside in or near Austin, Tx my buddy owns a bike shop called Ozone Bikes. I personally own a cruiser bike (big wheels, big seat, big handle bars, very comfy) made by Torker. It's got 8 speeds to get up hills as well. I also own a hybrid if I decide to bike around the city. Kona is a very well made bike. Prepare to spend about $300-$500 on a well made bike. In the long run, maintenance isn't much an issue. Go to a bike shop, most definitely.

Yes! go to a bike shop....They will not only help you find a good bike for your needs, but also make sure you are on the right size bike (which can be dangerous if your not). If you really aren't sure about investing the money, because you might not like it, borrow a bike from someone for a few weeks to see how it goes. I love my bike and it's my primary cardio when weather is good (which is from April-Nov here in Jersey) I also love my little odometer...it gives me incentive, and helps me track my progress.

Whatever bike you get, be sure to invest in bike pants. They feel weird at first, but oh so much more comfortable when riding. That extra cushioning in the seat helps you last longer on the bike! I ride 15-20 miles on Sundays and couldn't live without it.

Good luck to you!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
