I had my surgery three years ago and usually I do pretty well with it. I have been seriously stuck once and had to go to my doctor and get an unfill to let it pass. I got my surgery in Phoenix in high school. I am now a freshman in college three hours away, and I have had something stuck for about three days. I tried meat tenderizer yesterday because I think it was a part of a roast that got stuck. That didn't work. So I'm wondering if anyone has any other tips for something that's been stuck for awhile. Should I keep trying to meat tenderizer? Maybe it takes multiple tries to break it down? Or does anyone know any good doctors in Tucson that could help me? It's really painful and I hate being away from my doctor. Help please!

Chew on 3 papaya tablets! It's a natural enzyme and it helps me every time! I feel relief within 5 minutes! You can get them at Walmart or Walgreens in the Vitamin section for about 5 bucks. Good luck!

How much did they take out? I'm going to drive to El Paso day after tomorrow to see my surgeon for an unfill. Its a 4 hour drive each way, but I am having a hard time getting much down. I hope he doesnt take TOO much out... just enough so I can drink more liquids! I'm sooooooo thirsty! :)

He only ended up taking about half out, but he thinks that should actually be a good amount so I might not need to get it filled again. Good luck!

Thanks! I lost 6.5 lbs in 2 weeks and he was concerned. I ended up having 2.5 cc taken out and I felt an immediate difference. Hopefully it wont be too much out. I have an appointment in January, just in case I need a tad more put in. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
