Do I Have a leak? weird port pain :(

Recommended Posts

So I was told my first fill was 3.5 cc (done in the hosp with fluro) When i went back for my second fill she said that she pulled out 2cc (saying that was all that was in there) and put it back plus 1cc bring it 3cc's. Then my third fill she added 1.5 cc's. I didn't ask what pulled out.

I had good restriction the first day that I could eat after my fill. NOW...I could eat a house! It's only been an hour since I had Breakfast and i'm hungry! ARGH...i'm getting sooo frustrated. I'm eating high Protein, exercising and watching my portions but i'm STILL hungry and not losing! Not to mention i'm drinking a ton to try not to be hungry.

I'm worried that the reason I have restriciton and then ...none...is becasue I have a leak.

SOMETIMES- my port feels very close to the top of my skin and hurts too which i've been concerned about. My doctor says that can happen.

ARGH! i'm getting very frustrated!

just saying....

Nah, probably not a leak. It's not uncommon for less than was added to be withdrawn; it seems the band and tubing "hold on" to some of the saline.

It just takes a while for most of us to reach good restriction. Once the swelling from the fill itself goes down, it's not unusual to feel as though nothing was done. Even though it's discouraging, you're closer to where you need to be

The discomfort at the port site isn't unusual, either. It takes a while for the port to really situate itself in the muscle; weird sensations, including tugging and pain, are pretty typical.

I'm sorry you didn't get more reassurance when you were in the office---what you are experiencing is perfectly normal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
