What colour are your scars?

Recommended Posts

My scars at the moment are red. I was banded 21/09/10

Has anyone had theirs fade to white or pink? I've been putting Vitamin E cream and Bio oil on mine to make them fade but it doesn't seem to be working.

I'm hoping in time they will fade.

Do you put any creams or oils on yours?

I will be 1 year on Oct 30. I just checked, my scars are barely visible, they are light pink and pretty much match my skin color. I think yours hould fade too. :smile2:Karen(kll724)

Sweet :-) Thanks, Karen!

I don't think I'd ever be able to wear a bikini, but it's a nice thought to know that I won't have these lines on my tummy forever.

Cheers,

WrenBird.

Mine are red and I was banded in August. I also have several other scars on my stomach from a laparoscopic gallbladder surgery. They are all white now so I figure in time the band scars will be white also.

I'll keep putting the Vitamin creams on them.

Mine are still red too (9/16). I'm not putting anything on them-- I had gallbladder surgery about 10 years ago and I can't see my scars from that unless I search so I'm assuming these will eventually heal the same. Hope I'm right!

I was banded 8-6-10 and my scars are red. I'm hoping in time they will fade but at the moment they stand out a bit. lol.

I was banded in May. Mine are fading and are pink, but you can still of course see the port incision; the others healed well and are fading. I use silicone scar sheets on them and will use bio-oil/fade cream when I'm ready.

I was banded 9/21/10 and mine are reddish purple. I also use Vitamin E oil but I was told it's not so much about what you put in them, it's just the act of rubbing them a couple times a day that makes them heal nicely.

I was banded 8/24 and my scars are a pretty vibrant red considering how very pale I am. I am a redhead so paleness is part of the package!

I use Vit. E oil also as my PCP thought the scars were a little bumpy. She felt the oil with massage would help smooth them. But she also warned to keep them out of the sun or they would get worse.

And when I lose my weight, I plan to rock a bikini, scars and all! I figure if I work this hard to lose the weight, anyone who wants to stare at my scares can because I'll be at a good, healthy weight lookin' fine! Haaaa!

Ahhh, yes I'm pale too and mine are quite red.

I don't think I'd ever be able to wear a bikini...It would take a big psychological adjustment to do so :w00t:

I find that all of my scars heal differently. Some of my scars are red some are pink even if they are from the same surgery on the same day.

Here is a link to a photo of my scars marked is the day I had a surgery and the day the stitch was taken out. My older scars are not even visible. My darker scars are from incisions that didn't heal well right away.

I have since had a Tummy Tuck and my belly button scar is thick and dark but the larger incision has healed so nicely it is barely noticeable already!

Band and Lipo Scar photos

p.s I dont use any creams on my scars. It is hard to communicate with people to try to find something for my scars here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
