I just got a letter from Dr. DeWitt's office this morning with my next few dates. On 11/9 I have an appointment with the nutritionist and it says also a physical therapy appointment? Does anyone know what's involved with the last one, as I haven't heard mention of it before?

And then on the 17th I have my psych eval. Dr. DeWitt said there wasn't anything to it and not to be nervous, so I'm trying not to think about it much. I guess things are starting to fall together, maybe.

I haven't heard of having a PT appointment either. Perhaps they will put an exercise program together for you. (or if you have an injury, work around that) Don't worry about the psych eval either. They just want to make sure that you don't have an eating disorder or other problem that would prevent you from being successful with the band.

It really sounds like they have the ball rolling for you!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Never heard of a PT appointment. Maybe you could ask your surgeon what it is?

As for the psych exam, it really is a breeze. I was worried myself but all for nothing. It's really just a one-on-one talk about the surgery, seeing if you're ready/willing to make the changes, if you have a support system behind you, etc.

My surgeon's office also did PT appointments, but only if they thought you needed it. If you have trouble getting around due to weight etc. I was thankfully let out of that appointment. It's not unheard of. I know it's a pain and a lot of hoops to jump through, but once it's all done you'll be glad...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
