mcastane 3 Posted October 28, 2010 My first fill my Dr gave me 4cc's but that was too much. I ended up with 1 cc that day. After 4 fills I have 2.5 cc's in my band, but that is all I have needed and I have lost 82 lbs in 8 months. I have a total of 100 lbs to lose and the 2.5 ccs is working. I must say that will power and the decision to make the right choices is also yours and plays a huge role in your success. If you Dr is not listening to you, I would definately find a new one. Good luck!
ssankofa73 2 Posted October 29, 2010 If you contact the Dr. at NYU within a couple of days let me know how it goes. I'm getting nervous about my revision and wondering if I need a 2nd opinion.
Chloe84 0 Posted October 31, 2010 How does everyone know what size band they have? Is this something you have a choice with or does the Dr just put one in based on your start weight?
Katy517 1 Posted October 31, 2010 In my case, I asked my surgeon. He told me that he only uses one type and size of band and told me what that was. I had not choice in the matter, but knowledge is power. How does everyone know what size band they have? Is this something you have a choice with or does the Dr just put one in based on your start weight?
Beachbunny 5 Posted October 31, 2010 How does everyone know what size band they have? Is this something you have a choice with or does the Dr just put one in based on your start weight? The 4cc band is a much older style. Drs. in the USA are using the allergan standard 10cc or Allergan large 14cc now. I asked pre op what he used , as i wanted the newest bands out there. Im glad i don't have a 4cc band im at 2cc with no restriction.

They have 11 and 14cc bands. Some doctors have a preference, some decide once they see your anatomy internally. Your surgeon will tell you what band you have. I have the 10cc AP Standard with 6cc. JennaJ221 2 Posted October 31, 2010 Fedz..I saw dr geiss a few times..wasn't impressed..I needed a fill and was told to "give it a month" then come back..sure enought I gained. I didn't go back..I found a new dr. Maybe its time u might consider that. I saw dr. Buchin in lake success..he didn't do my surgery but he said..ok we're startin all over..let's pretend this is the beginning now. And he worked with me..still does..takes the time to sit and discuss..tests my band fluid..maybe u lost some Fluid, it happened..I lost a lil before. But he's generous with his fills..he makes sure its the right time tho which is why he sits and goes over everything with u first. But I've never been denied..I also see his nurse practioner sophia..she's amazing too. Like I said maybe u should maybe look into them. They're in huntington now..not too far from syosset. ssankofa73 2 Posted November 1, 2010 Jenna, Who implanted your lapband? Does DR. Buchin take other patients who were implanted by different dr's or were you the exception? Everyone, My revision was pushed back due to unrelated complications. Now I'm thinking that I should go to a different DR for my revision.
JennaJ221 2 Posted November 1, 2010 My lapband was done by dr. Davis at lawrence hospital in westchester. I don't think I was the exception. All I did was look up other lapband specialists and yes some did say they couldn't see me. But dr. Buchin totally took me with no issues. I just had to get all my records and bring them in for him. He's been amazing and I've lost over 60lbs with them so far and still going. So I highly highly reccommend him. He's part of lij and his new office is in huntington. Look him up or message me for his number. Good luck
ssankofa73 2 Posted July 8, 2011 Thank you so much for your response. I know its been a while but I had another surgery plus other family illnesses that got in the way. I'm trying hard to get back on track. I'm going to look up Dr. Buchin.
