WrenBird 11 Posted October 26, 2010 I honestly have never enjoyed exercise until I discovered aqua aerobics. I do two classes in a row. The first class works on your legs, the second on your arms. It's difficult and I love it! I wait for the days that I get to do Aqua Aerobics rather than walking. I hate walking, but because they only have Aqua Aerobics on 3 times a week at my local pool, I've gotta walk for 4 days a week. Is there anything similar to Aqua Aerobics that won't hurt my back? Prefferbly free?
amybethy 0 Posted October 27, 2010 You could just do the aqua aerobics by your self in the pool.
Dave_NW 92 Posted October 27, 2010 I agree with Amy. I had in-the-pool physical therapy a few years ago after knee surgery, and I felt so good afterwards, I continued doing the movements in the Water for months afterwards. If I'd had the opportunity to learn how to do aqua aerobics, I'd have kept that up instead. Exercise is less like work if you enjoy it. Dave
honk 780 Posted October 27, 2010 Do you have access to the pool for other times? Is it a lap pool? I swim laps using a snorkle makes it easier to swim without worrying about breathing; and use a Water proof mp3 player. Having music makes the time go by soooo much faster. I have a back issue and I have no trouble swimming.
cardmaker 0 Posted October 27, 2010 I have severe arthritis in my right knee. I have to use a cane to walk outside a pool. I was hesitant to do Water aerobics for a long time but after I had aqua PT with an in pool treadmill, well, I was a changed lady! Instead of doing aerobics in a class setting, I walk laps in the lap pool (3/4 mile) and then switch to a warm water exercise pool and jog for 30-45 minutes 5 days a week. I too bought a waterproof MP3 player and it's heaven!! I was pretty bored before but now the time flies by. I think I jog better to tunes!! I found the aerobics was too hard on my knee but the walking and jogging are just fine.
