The Melting Pot is NOT Band Friendly!

Oh boy oh boy, I just had my first Melting Pot experience last night. I can't believe the amount of cheese fondue they bring for two people! I'm sure most of you have been there, but what a fun experience! If you haven't been, it's quite an experience but don't order, "The Big Night Out!"

You cook your own food, so if you want to bring leftovers home you have to cook it all up. After the cheese dip and salad, I was too full for the meat n' veggies. So I spent my evening slaving over a hot stove (haha) cooking up all that food to bring home so I can have an awesome lunch today. But I woke up and found and empty container on the counter! Chris took the whole thing then called and laughed at me for not hiding it! Trust me, I'll get even.

Last night I took Mekha out for an early Sweet 16 surprise date, and we had an amazing night. I bought tickets to Mystere' by Cirque du Soleil, and she literally sat on the edge of her chair the entire show. She's a dancer and wants to pursue a career as a dancer. Then we went to the Melting Pot and spent a few hours laughing and eating fondue style. Very cool. Her parents called & said she's gushing with excitement, so I just HAD to share our pic. Here's my best friend, Mekha.

She's beautiful! So happy to hear that the 2 of you had such a good time. And shame on Chris for eating those leftovers on you! I'd get even too! LOL

Why the heck didn't they tell us we could get The Big Night Out for one person? We could have split that and still had leftovers. Boy, to think of the money I threw away. Thanks, Shel. They're opening one near my house in January (we drove to the other side of town last night.) I'd like to take my husband, but he's so spoiled that he'd ask me to cook all his food and ruin the fun.

Mmmm Melting Pot. chocolate Fondue. Great place to go w/ friends b/c your meal takes 3 hours.

BTW - last time we were there when the guy was puring the beer in the cheese fondue DH asked him what kind of beer they use, thinking it had to be a house or micro-brew. Nope, they use PBR.

This sounds great. I wish places like that were here - okay maybe its better that I can only enjoy stuff like that on vacations. I'll have to put that in my vacation book. Celeste

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
