I'm 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery and on soft foods and doing well. Learning to chew good and eat small bites. Been vomit-free since '93 (sorry - Seinfeld reference)...anyway, haven't vomited yet -yay!

However, as you all know, suddenly when you can't have something, you crave it. I rarely ate popcorn before, but now I'd like some (when ready for real food). What has been your experience with this delicacy?)

Thanks all!

I, for one, think that popcorn and the movies go together. I am about 3 weeks post op and have been to the movies 3 times so far and have eaten popcorn just fine. I dont eat the kernels, just incase there is a problem with them.

I am mindfull of the carbs, but havent had any problems. Maybe after a fill or two.

Love popcorn. I have eaten the 100 cal microwave corn X2 since banding on 10/2 without a problem.

No problem here either. I had it at the movies. I just ordered a small and at about half. I was NOT filled yet though.

popcorn is one of my slider foods. I could eat it even when I had too much fill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
