Hi I am having surgery 11/16 and I read that when you are post op sometimes it is hard to sleep in a bed. My problem is we have very low furniture(due to my basset hound with his little legs) so my bed is a pedestal bed and very low to the floor and my sofas are very low. Do you think I will be ok getting in and out since they are so low or should I go purchase a recliner chair? I don't know how sore my abdomen will be but I feel it does pull on my abdomen a little when I get out of bed. Thanks

I was banded on 10/19. I haven't had any problems at all with pain from my incisions or getting up or laying down. I did sleep in a recliner for several nights though because of the gas. When I would lay down flat, I felt like someone was sitting on my chest. I've heard people say that their gas settled in other places, but mine settled in my chest. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I did have postop pain, but nothing that wasn't manageable with meds. I would not invest in a recliner; your discomfort will be awfully short-lived. I would imagine you'll be okay with your furniture---I'd recommend lots of pillows to support you in bed, though.

(I love Bassetts!)

I saw where a lot of people bought recliners - rented them (like at rent-a-center) but I personally would not have needed one.

The pain was uncomfortable but nothing that bothered me so bad that I had problems getting up and down.

Someone else said that using the bathroom would be torture too because of getting up and down but it didn't bother me in the least bit.

Everyone is definitely different though.

I did find the pain to be so bad that I couldn't get up or down easily. I wouldn't spend money on a chair that you may only need for a few days.

The pain didn't bother me. It was more the strange feeling I got in my tummy and throat when I laid down.

You can fix that with more pillow though :-) It's annoying at first but when the sweling goes down after a few days, it's all good :-)

Goodluck to you!

I slept in my normal bed. It's pretty high up. I did sleep with a pillow (hugging it) next to my stomach while laying on my side. Seemed to help.

I too wouldn't invest in anything special. Just have pillows & a heating pad ready, and you should be fine.

I slept on my couch for the first 2 days with a few extra pillows for support. My biggest recommendation would be to have a heating pad available because I really felt that helped tremendously with the gas pains.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
