Thinking I need an adjustment

Recommended Posts

My husband and I are in the process of moving. Because we had been working so hard on the house, he decided to order pizza for him and the kids. There was nothing else (Protein wise) that I had available to eat, so I decided a 1/2 slice of pizza would be okay. I took baby bites and ate the whole freaking slice including the crust!!!!! In my opinion this should not have gone down so easlily and I should have gotten full on just the 1/2 slice! I am really upset because I have been so strict with myself for two months and have done great on the weight loss. I am thinking that I need another adjustment (have only had 1 but it was only 1cc on Oct 5).

Will the do an adjustment within 4 weeks of the last? I am so upset about eating that piece of pizza you have no idea!

Well I have had 3 fills since I have been banded in May and my band is a little picky some times of the day I can eat anything and other times I absolutely cannot eat any type of bread. If your losing weight 1 to 2lbs a week then I would say you don't need a fill, just because things may go down easily doesn't necessarily mean you need a fill. Also if your ok going 3 to 4hrs in between meals then you don't need a fill as well!!!! Just keep up the good work and don't worry about slipping one time on pizza we all do it and I do it kind of often but I am still losing and I exercise my butt off. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I have no idea on your doc's protocol on length of time between fills. Mine will not do one any closer than 4 weeks apart. The only way to know about your doc is to call and ask. My nurses are great about answering questions like that over the phone.

Don't beat yourself up over the pizza, life happens. Just try to do better next time. Maybe you could get a little lunch size cooler and keep string cheese & apples & deli meat and that type of stuff in it for your use while ya'll are in the throes of moving.

I'm betting though, that you're expending so many calories moving that the pizza won't wreck your goals at all. Or make yourself some flatbread pizza. checkout Flatout bread – Better Than Sliced Bread for ideas.

it was one lousy slice of pizza not 3 to 4 what you could have ate prior to banding I bet. Don't beat yourself up. I just ate a pice of Halloween candy as I type...well I lied..maybe 3....I've lost 70 in the past 9 months and have ate pizza during it(just not more than 1 piece)

Hey...it's OK. Like a previous bander stated I could mow through 6+ pieces prior to banding. Give yourself permission to join in on the fun periodically and consider it a treat.

You will jump back and the bandwagon tomorrow.

1 piece of pizza once in a while is not a deal breaker... it's probably less than you ate before surgery! Pizza is also greasy and slides down easily (as long as the crust isn't too thick and doughy). We have pizza about 2 times a month, and I let myself have a piece when we do. Have veggies on it and enjoy 1 piece. Just plan for it during the day. That's our rule now, we only order pizza when it's pre-planned and not just because we don't feel like making dinner (which used to happen a couple of times a week...)

Depends on what type of restriction you're looking for. I'm looking for the feeling of 'enough'...which I get with one piece of pizza. Phenomenal since I used to be able to sit down and eat half of a pizza...or more. After you finished that piece, was it enough? If so, then you don't need a fill.

If you're one of those looking for restriction based on not being able to eat certain foods or only being able to eat a couple tablespoonsful, then you probably do.

If all you had for lunch was one piece of pizza, you should be congratulating yourself!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
