Hi all, I'm new :blushing: I have 2 kids, 8 mos and almost 3 and something in me changed after having the kids. I used to be ok being heavier but with all the aches and pains since having them I fear I won't be around to really enjoy them so, I started researching lap-band. I was pretty athletic years ago but I was still heavy, I've been walking and paying lots of attention to my diet and the weight is still creeping on.

We're an army family and I have concerns about tricare since I don't have co-morbidities listed on the tricare website, but I do suffer from depression. I'm 29, 5 ft even and 260lbs, per the MetLife chart I should be 113-126, I honestly don't want to EVER be that thin. I just don't think I'm built that way, when I was younger and was that weight, I looked sickly LOL

Anywho, this is me

Hi and welcome to LBT. There are other bandsters here that are Army wives. I think most insurances that cover lapband at all would cover you even without co-morbidities bacause your BMI is over 40. Search around the site and you will find others that used that ins. and that share your Army wife background. Good luck. I wish you the best.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
