Newbie - Worried about water

Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled for surgery Nov 24. I'm both scared and excited. The one thing which scares me is drinking Water. I don't mean before-during-after meals, but in general. When I am thirsty, a big glass of cold water is such a relief. Will I have to restrict myself to small sips of room-temperature water?

:blushing:

Nope!!

I drink normal amounts of Water, both cold and hot! Nothing will change as far as that is concerned :huh2:

I just cannot chug immediately after a meal. If I do, everything is likely to come back up.

Otherwise, I can drink normally at any temperature.

The sip, sip, sip, is for immediately post-op when you don't want to be stressting a stomach that was just pushed and pulled and put through a trauma and could have swelling.

After you've healed, liquids go through pretty quickly. Yesterday I drank a 24 oz. bottle of Water in about 20 minutes, if that helps. I am 2 1/2 years post-op.
